Things your attention needs to avoid | Guided Meditation Online

In Sahaja we talk regularly about the power of our attention and how important and central it is for our meditation practice. If you’re new to Sahaja, here is the result. The rising Kundalini energy raises our attention to a higher level of consciousness. All of the far-reaching and amazing benefits of meditation result from our attention in this higher unique spiritual realm. Purer and clearer attention can more easily bring us into this state, and conversely, when our attention is in this higher state, it becomes purified, stable, and balanced – enough to take full control of it.

While many aspects of our attention have been discussed in our articles and we will continue to do so in the future, here are the most important things to avoid. These are extremely harmful to our attention and therefore to our pursuit of spirituality and meditation.

False gurus

At the top of our list are the harmful effects of spiritual, philosophical, and even some self-improvement gurus or teachers who can do a lot of harm. This is because they do not convey the true experience of our inner self-realization and spiritual awakening. But they lead us down wrong paths in that they promise a lot or attract us through their charisma. The effect of such gurus is that sometimes we can lose our way permanently and cause damage to our spiritual system within us. Thanks to Sahaja you can use your vibrational awareness to recognize such gurus and to avoid them immediately.

Spiritualists, mystics, occult practices

The next category of people and activities that can harm your spiritual growth and subtle energy system are those who do dangerous things on a spiritual level, much like black magic. There is great, far reaching, divine power that we can use for our spiritual growth, and there are also these dark negative forces that we must avoid. Spiritualists who promise healing, and even those who can predict our future, can damage our attention in the long run.

Too much past or future

The basic functioning of our spiritual energy system is that the Kundalini ascends through the central energy channel, which is connected to the present, while the left and right energy channels are connected to the past and future. Hence, over-thinking or preoccupation with the past creates an imbalance in our attention and draws it towards the left or right energy channel. These affect our ability to have steady, focused, and relaxed attention that can enjoy a higher state of consciousness during meditation.

Too much reading and analyzing

Although cognitive activity is absolutely essential in our lives, it still takes place at a level of consciousness that is lower than the higher state of meditation. Not only that, but it can create extra thoughts that will keep our attention low and keep us away from meditation when we are already struggling to make the thoughts go away and alleviate our stressors caused by those thoughts. In fact, spiritual growth is tied directly to the experience of higher consciousness and not to the amount of knowledge one has about spirituality.

Materialistic things

It should be clear to us that materialistic endeavors are a bottomless pit and that we are repeatedly led to want more and more without being satisfied. Our attention gets carried away and caught up in the endless attraction to material things that make it harder to be thoughtless or to lead a simple, uncomplicated life.

display

You will be surprised to know that the deluge of advertisements that are thrown on our attention causes a lot of negative to seep into our mental, emotional, and spiritual systems if we pay attention to it. They create unnecessary desires and create a way for more negativity to creep in by pulling us into them. Because advertising has only one motive – to attract our attention more and more regardless of the consequences and so that someone benefits from it.

News and social media

Science has now found that the flow of message bytes and social media affects our attention span. Whatever is newsworthy is not necessarily positive. In fact, sensational and newsworthy articles are mostly negative events or fears that are passed on. We definitely need to be connected and aware of what is happening around us, but not in such a way that news and information bombard our attention uncontrollably. Choosing a certain time and duration as well as motivating and inspiring news and social media content can positively influence our attention.

The recent explosion of video content streamed across Youtube and Netflix-like platforms is also weakening our awareness if we’re not careful.

criticism

This category of people needs to make judgments to make a living, and they can rarely be kind. They encourage conflict, hurtful, and negative feelings all around, albeit unintentionally. They do not teach people to love and enjoy people, things and situations unconditionally and to experience everything without reacting. Rather, they aim to strongly condition or push their point of view and consolidate their status as experts. They sometimes stifle and destroy creativity and inspired attempts by people.

Critics and their views and articles can negatively affect our Agnya chakra and create more rigidity and bias in us. If you want to keep your attention flexible and healthy, do without the middleman, i.e. the critic and even the reviewer. Rely on your superior awareness and judgment on everything.

Negative people and emotions

Skeptics, pessimists, and fearful people are contagious and harm our attention. Many of them may need our help and struggle with negative feelings or emotions through no fault of their own. In such cases, we need our positive attitude and energy to help them. But when such people and their views and fears are avoidable, we should try to keep our attention. When we are connected to the divine energy of the universe, nothing unpleasant can happen to us; we can spread this positive force around us.

Artificial, artificial objects

Today’s world is full of non-recyclable, toxic waste that not only harms the earth, but these objects lack natural vibrations and beauty, and they actually interfere with the spiritual energy and vibrations. If we want cleaner, clearer attention, we need to keep our homes and workplaces free of plastics and harmful chemicals and man-made substances as much and realistically as possible. Meditating in a calm, natural setting increases the vibrations and makes it easier to fall into meditation.

The simple technique to protect your attention

This aspect is greatly underestimated, but avoiding setting your eyes and focusing your attention on potentially harmful things and people can improve the quality and depth of your meditation. It is known that most of the negativity that hurts our spiritual energy system enters us through our eyes.

Spirituality is all about becoming more subtle, and you will be surprised how subtle negativity can be as you try to creep into our attention, thinking, and psyche. The fight against the negative forces can be successful if we are vigilant and refuse to bring them to their attention. If we can focus our attention mostly on beautiful, natural things, young children rather than complicated adults, inspiring stories, our spiritual progress can be much easier.
