Meditation Techniques for Energy | Sura Flow

If you work with a meditation trainer or in a meditation group, you will hear many conversations about energy – some about positive energy and other comments about negative energy.

Trainers can redirect this conversation about energy to the benefits of meditation. You can focus on meditation that gives you positive energy, but it’s also important to talk about negative energy and deal with it directly. I love to talk about it Meditation Techniques for Energy and address both types of energy.

Sometimes I am asked directly: “How do you work with energy in your meditation practice?” And my answer is the result of my many years of work as a meditation coach and the more than 12 years of training others to become coaches.

Negative energy

Sometimes we cannot shake this feeling of fear, stress, and tension even when we come to meditate. These feelings are the result of negative energy. We can’t get rid of these feelings so quickly for two reasons:

  1. We hold onto old energy that we haven’t processed.
  2. We sense the collective stress or fear of a group (family, workplace, society, etc.).

We all have to suppress our feelings at times. This is because the past stressful event may have been too much or alarming to deal with at the moment of the incident, so we unconsciously put it aside. But these subtle tensions keep surfacing. While it is easier to distract us from uncomfortable feelings, it is better to process those feelings as soon as possible.

Ideally, you should experience connection and insight in meditation, but old energies hold us back and keep us constantly agitated and fearful. Bad experiences can leave marks or residue that are difficult to shake and let go of completely, leaving a state of constant tension and alertness. These experiences can leave behind an emotion or mood that lasts for a long time and comes back at inopportune moments.

We also form bonds between people. This is the energy that naturally flows between people. A residual feeling of tension may remain in a conflicted relationship, and it happens that energy moves between these bonds in relationships.

Likewise, there is undoubtedly a group mentality which, because of these connections, influences the thinking of an entire group. Over the past year we have felt tensions over politics, racial conflict and the pandemic, to name a few examples. Sometimes this group mentality leads to anxiety and causes the collective feeling of stress and anxiety that we all experience in general.

So what do we do with negative energy?

Purification of negative energy

The goal is to cleanse yourself of negative energy and get back into balance before your meditation time. Otherwise, you will find stress and anxiety invading your mind – even while you are meditating.

Energy healing techniques help us practice meditation and self-energy healing. There are several tips for doing this.

Meditation Techniques for Energy

1. Identify where your negative energy is coming from.

Is it an unresolved experience from your past? Or does it come from a relationship?

If you haven’t resolved a situation with someone else, some residue will remain in your head. Identify the exact nature of this conflict.

If your mood is dropping out of nowhere, wonder if someone else is picking you up. You may need to take a conscious break to disconnect from those who are affecting your thoughts.

Wherever your mind returns, that is where you are stuck and need to clear and balance the energy.

Purify and clarify our experiences to consciously let them go instead of unconsciously holding onto them through stress and tension.

2. Establish a sacred space for your meditation.

This approach is fundamental. It is important to create a sacred space that will elevate your energy and spirit. Unless you have completely let go of past experiences, your thoughts wander back to tube experiences to process and share. Your sacred space is designed for positive energy to flow constantly.

3. Set a frequency for your meditation.

Having a daily morning time often means you set the tone and pace for the day. Many find that they have to readjust every day, including me. Developing this healthy habit will also help you cleanse yourself of negative energy so that you can increase your energies.

4. Practice visualization and healing techniques.

As mentioned in the last two descriptions, the goal is to cleanse negative energy, tension and stress. It is important to be grounded. Take the time to figure out why you are feeling anxiety and stress and deal with it right away rather than pushing it away.

Let the positive energy flow

The intention is to use your meditation time to let positive energy flow. You can open yourself to the universal energy that is constantly flowing within us and all around us.

I like to call this positive energy blissful energy. It is healing, nourishing and fulfilling – and leaves us with deep satisfaction and spiritual nourishment. Our true state of being arises in this energetic space. This state of consciousness is our own true authentic selves that are free to love and create and not dominated by stress and fear.

The good news is that you can access the bliss of meditation longer than you can if you meditate. This energy continues to flow. This energy is part of you! In fact, the higher energy also includes our intuition – your inner guidance, God-Self or love – whatever you like to call it.
