What Is Your Stress Type?

Most people admit that there are times when they are stressed and they don't always deal with that stress in the best way possible. I find that learning about stress and how to react to it is the best way to deal with it. So I ask people the question: What is your stress type? There are 5 stress archetypes through which we can learn how to deal with stress and get back to our center.

Learning about these archetypes helps us expand our awareness of that Types of stress we stand in front. It also helps us to get back to the center. People tend to think more about the quiet, relaxed, and peaceful times. We remember what that experience is like. But it's important to remember what it is like experience acute stress so that we know how to get to peace.

From years of meditation coaching and training leaders, we have found that this is a topic that everyone deals with. Our work with trainers has helped us refine this topic and we are happy to share our findings with you. There are three preliminary topics I would like to introduce first: life stressors, stress symptoms, and stress responses.

Life stressors

There are many life stressors that cause you to be stressed out. I always tell people to start this conversation by finding out what is making them stressed. Is it other people? Do other people hurt you? Often times it will be related to childhood issues that you have dealt with and that are still preoccupying you.

Symptoms of stress

There are many Symptoms of stressas there are many different types of stress. Stress sets in and we are nervous, angry, raw and pushing people away. Our emotions are nervous.

Physically, you begin to breathe faster. Your heartbeat and pulse speed up. You can work up a sweat and become overly sensitive to your surroundings.

Stress reactions

There are 3 natural stress responses, and each one reacts in at least one of these three ways:

  1. struggle – You fight back to protect yourself. You can be defensive and others can go into bullying mode
  2. flight – Run away, withdraw or isolate yourself. These are also protections that will help you live and fight one more day
  3. Freeze – You do nothing. This is more of a paralysis where a person checks out for a period of time

The stress archetypes

These stress responses lend themselves to behavior and personality patterns. I have found that these behavior patterns focus on 5 stress archetypes. Consider the following points and where you will fit in more often. Yes, you can put all of this on at one time or another.

The addict

You go into addiction mode. What is your drug of choice? Food, sex, Netflix, television, alcohol, drugs, etc. are many examples of what people become addicted to when faced with stressful situations.

The isolator

This is the loner who withdraws and isolates from others. It is usually someone who did not have any support from parents or others in their childhood, e.g. B. absent parents who did not know how to support them. You may have been independent and managed these things yourself throughout your childhood. These people have no tendency to ask for help or have no idea how to ask others for help. Many do not feel comfortable with it and do not want to burden others.

The tyrant

You go into face-off mode and become aggressive, act out and snap at others. This is one aspect of survival mode. You become self-focused. You are not so gracious or generous to others because your focus is on protecting yourself. You get irritated easily.

The Avoider

This person avoids life and distracts himself. You avoid life. It can get like an addiction depending on what you indulge in. This person is likely to deny that they are even experiencing stress. They tend to focus on things that help them forget what is going on. So, they may spend their hours surfing the internet, playing video games, shopping, or doing other activities that are pointless and distracting to them. You'll also get plenty of sleep to cope with stress.

The ghost

This is a person who is all but disappearing. There is no communication and no sign of life. These are people who are in freeze mode or paralyzed. I sometimes call this "dead fish" because, even when they are with you, they are not engaged at all and are essentially checked out.

Again, these 5 personality archetypes show the different stress responses in their own way.

How to deal with stress

When you think of stress, frenetic and chaotic people are not grounded. They're always off-center, trying to keep all the plates up in the air. If you are hypervigilant, it is worth investigating what is going on for yourself. When you see yourself slipping into one of these archetypes, let them guide you to what is needed – a way to deal with stress.

So ask yourself: What are you doing to help? Coping with stress and bring physically and mentally Peace?

Take a moment to assess yourself. Measure yourself on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest exposure. How much do you feel

The goal is to rebalance yourself with compassion, love, acceptance, and loving kindness – not beat yourself up for being out of whack.

Realistically ask yourself: what can I do to bring myself back into balance?

How to Reduce Stress

Follow this guided meditation:

  • Inhale new energy and take a break
  • Exhale old and stagnant energy
  • Repeat and relax your whole body as you do this. Connect with the center of your being and rest comfortably in the moment
  • Feel dropped into your body as you relax. Move from your feet to your head and relax as you go
  • Think about this question: What is the internal physical response you have when faced with stress? Feel that for a moment. Put your hand on the area where you are most likely to feel physically stressed
  • Think: What makes you stressed out in life? Identify some of these stressors
  • Think: How do you relate to stress? How do you deal with that?
  • Let it go: Imagine letting your stress leave your body. Breathe it out. Let it run through you and into the earth. Let it go of you. Put stress in a bubble and watch it swim away easily

What is fight or flight?

Fight or flight is the biological response to stress and threat. People tend to fight back or run away when threatened. This is the basis of a stress response.

What are stress triggers?

Your stress inducer is something personal to you that may date back to your childhood. These are emotions that you feel in certain situations that make you feel out of control or threatened.

What are the physical signs of stress?

These are different physical signs of stress:

  • Faster heartbeat and pulse
  • Breathing speeds up
  • You can work up a sweat
  • You become overly sensitive to your surroundings

These responses are natural, literally your body is either preparing you for flight or for flight.

How do I deal with stress?

To manage stress, keep the following in mind:
