Choose your own adventure here: Apply argan oil either as a quick pre-shampoo treatment (à la Newman) or as a night mask for extra moisture.
To go down Newman's route, part your hair into sections and pump a quarter drop of argan oil (like this 100% pure argan oil from Josie Maran) into the palm of your hand. Warm it up in your hands and saturate the section from root to tip. Repeat this process until all of your strands are smooth.
Newman then gently untangles his locks as the oil settles – the oil provides some slip and makes it easier for you to work through growls. Just be very, very careful not to pull on your precious strands – and if you have curls, you may want to wait until you untangle in the shower if your hair is soaking wet. Let the argan oil work for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly.
For an overnight argan oil treatment, the steps are practically the same – all you need to do is let it soak overnight. "For a night mask, argan oil should be applied from the scalp to the tips of the hair," says hairdresser Lucia Casazza of the beauty benefits of argan oil. After your strands are coated, wrap them in a microfiber cloth or cap (so you don't mess up your pillow) and rinse everything in the afternoon.
