While prolonged fasts – anywhere between 18 and 22 hours – can have more health benefits, I've found that if you break your fast, it's best not to shock your digestive system with a full meal. Instead, we want to slowly return to what I like to call a break-a-fast meal.

Playing with breakfast, since you don't necessarily eat during a typical breakfast hour, this mini-meal gently and sustainably feeds the food back into your system and lays the foundation for a larger meal an hour or two later.
