8 Secrets Of Successful Weight Losers

Time and time again I have seen clients at Motivation win the weight loss challenge and it's immensely satisfying. They come to our clinics and often feel down, negative and hopeless. You've tried every "diet" under the sun, but even after the initial euphoric weight loss, the weight just keeps going again.

Our program is different. If you stick to the program this time, you will keep the weight down. Our customers don't complain about hunger, but we limit their calories and they lose weight. But not all clients are the same in their approach, attitude, and ability to adhere to the program.

Here I want to give an overview of what makes the most successful weight losers. It's really just about adopting the right attitudes and habits and soon you will be joining them!

  1. You're not looking too far ahead: successful weight losers, as I've noticed, usually take all at once every week (or even every day). They have an overall long-term goal, but they focus their attention on the short-term goals. They also tend to focus their goals on habits (with associated "actions") like "I'm going to have green beans or broccoli for lunch every day to keep fresh and frozen on my shopping list" or "I have to Weekend withdraw my carbs so I can make cauliflower rice for dinner. " These people tend to adopt a habit or two at a time (rarely more). Then they can enjoy the feel-good factor of reaching every little goal. Or if you don't make it this week, try again – it is crucial that you are flexible and yet determined with your goals.
  2. They choose an exercise that they actually enjoy: I am blue in the face and I say this, but do you really have a chance to continue with a particular exercise if you are not really enjoying it? It sounds so simple, but it's true. If you hate cardio, don't do it. Instead, lift weights, do Pilates or yoga, and walk briskly. If you hate this type of exercise then beat it down with cardio. If you loathe most sports, choose something that is fun – try dance classes or aquaerobics. It doesn't matter what you do. Just do it regularly enough and you will see the results go up.
  3. Don't beat yourself up if you miss a session: there will be times when life is too busy, you have a bad cold, or other responsibilities. Successful weight losers know that their workouts might succeed, but they compensate for this by reducing their caloric intake over this period. Alternatively, they just accept that their weight loss will be slower until they can ramp it up again. The key position? Self-confidence. You can do that. You can choose things down. No panic. Be flexible and make a commitment to get back on track – but only if you can.
  4. They Don't Make Excuses: Successful weight losers know they didn't have a great week, but they don't make excuses for it. You just accept the fact and move on. Life is busy and stressful at times, but they know they still owe it to themselves to prioritize. There's a big difference between making excuses ("I've been too busy at work this week to stick to the program") and understanding where you went wrong and what to do next time ("I've been too busy and have not prepared my meal "The next time I will prepare myself on Sunday and Wednesday evening so that I can stay on the right path without much effort. Those who are successful are also more likely to take responsibility for their decisions. They do not give the external circumstances Guilt because they know the choice ultimately comes from within (without saying it's easy, just that it's a choice).
  5. You regularly consume protein: customers who consume some form of protein every three to four hours always do best. Why? Because they never let their blood sugar drop too low, which can easily lead them to make the wrong food choices in order to quickly "correct" that low value. Our customers have access to daily healthy goodies in the form of protein bars, chips and other snacks. The bonus is that these snacks not only help balance blood sugar levels, but also provide a much needed protein boost and the best way to satisfy cravings with a guilt-free snack. Customers love the fact that they don't have to sit and watch their partner or friend chew on a bar or chips – they have their own, healthier version of their own.
  6. They don't beat themselves up (too much) after a slip: we've noticed some clients who at the beginning of their program tended to see it as a disaster if they slip but luckily over time (using the tools) they will given) things change. You learn to respond in new, more helpful ways. That means shedding yourself, showing some self-compassion (understanding why they slipped), and learning how to avoid it next time. These people stick to the motto, "You either win (as you lose weight) or you learn". In other words, you never lose (the only thing you lose is the weight, but you win the challenge!).
  7. You see the importance of monitoring: The most successful weight losers ALWAYS fill in their daily diary. Okay, there might be a holiday or two that they let it slip, but by and large they come in with a full journal every week. They know that this strategy will make them more aware of their overall performance. It is this "self-reporting" that makes all the difference to success (research shows that those who keep a journal lose twice as much weight as those who don't). Also when it comes to measuring their food, measuring their waistlines, and detecting their body fat, these people are usually well equipped to face all forms of persecution. They know that if they keep an eye on the numbers they will get results, but at the same time they are not obsessed with the scales (see next point).
  8. You don't freak out if the scale shows a disappointing result: In my experience, the customers who step on the scale and are confident that no matter what it shows they still had a good week are far more likely to have success in the long run . In other words, they don't live or die according to the scales. They use HABITS to gauge their performance in a given week and tend not to care too much if the scale stays the same or even the odd time goes up (it happens – it's normal!). If someone's food was on the right track, there are always other explanations for it, such as the fact that they are building muscle (which weighs but eventually speeds up their metabolism and leads to weight loss), the fact that they are on their periods, or they are holding back water or maybe it is because they are stressed or sleepless in a particular week. It doesn't matter – they know they'll get there.

So what are these people not doing? Panic. Or doubt yourself (I never mean – I mean in general). They take it at their expense because they trust themselves and the program. They do this by noting their small achievements (assisted by their very coordinated personal weight loss trainer).

Lastly, I'd say if you think you have all the answers, then don't fall into the trap. They take the expert advice they get. They trust the program because it is based on sound, scientific, and proven research. And they don't see any obstacles. You see opportunities ahead of you. Even if they were pessimists before, they learn to become optimists. They focus on what works for them and they keep growing and learning.
