Estimate the number of calories burned while exercising on the elliptical machine.
The elliptical is a popular, gentle cardio machine that is used to lose weight and improve cardiovascular fitness.
What is the elliptical calorie calculator and how does it work?
This calculator estimates the number of calories someone burns on the elliptical machine. It also estimates the calories burned per minute.
How does it work?
First, the calculator determines your metabolism or your metabolism based on your weight.
What does that mean? Read on for a more detailed explanation.
If you take two people with you, one weighing 150 pounds and the other weighing 210 pounds, the person who weighs less will burn fewer calories than the heavier person during the same workout.
Why is that?
A calorie is a unit of energy, and a heavier person will need more energy to move their body or perform activities.
Think of it as if a larger vehicle usually uses more fuel than a smaller one. Weight affects fuel consumption (the amount of energy consumed).
However, this also means that the heavier person consumes more calories in a rested (non-athletic) state. This is also known as the metabolic rate or metabolism.
The calculator uses a formula to estimate the number of resting calories burned and then takes into account the duration and intensity of exercise to estimate the number of calories burned.
How to use the elliptical calorie expenditure calculator
The elliptical calorie calculator is not that easy to use when compared to many other health tools. However, it is certainly not difficult to find your way around if you keep things simple.
To ensure an easy experience for you, we’ve put together detailed step-by-step instructions below.
Step 1: Choose your preferred unit of measurement: Imperial (lbs, hours and minutes) or metric (kilograms, hours and minutes).
step 2: Enter your weight.
step 3: Enter the number of training hours (e.g. 1, 2, 3, etc.).
Note: You can also use values under an hour. For example, 0.5 would be 30 minutes and 0.25 would be 15 minutes. Make sure you enter 0 in the minutes field or just use the minutes field in that case.
Step 4: Enter the number of minutes of exercise.
Note: Since an hour has 60 minutes, you can enter a maximum of 59 minutes. You must also enter either 0 or a value less than an hour (e.g. 0.75 equals 45 minutes).
If the training lasts less than an hour, we recommend entering 0 in the hour field and only entering the number of minutes of training.
Step 5: Select the training intensity. Tip: Click directly on the text (e.g. low intensity, medium intensity, high intensity) and not on the empty gray circle.
Step 6: Press Calculate!
How many calories can I burn on the elliptical?
The number of calories you can burn during an activity depends on a few different factors, such as: B. Your weight, the intensity and duration of the training or the duration of the activity. Hence this can vary widely.
But that’s the point of this calculator. You fill in the necessary details and you will get an accurate estimate of the calories burned on the elliptical machine.
However, we have provided some examples of how our calculator estimates calorie consumption.
According to the elliptical calorie tool a 125 lb person exercising at low intensity for 30 minutes burns 128 calories. That’s about 4.27 calories per minute.
The same person burns 149 calories at medium intensity or normal speed and 179 calories at high intensity or fast speed.
But we say A person weighing 185 kg is exercising at low intensity on the elliptical for 30 minutes. You burn 189 calories. That’s estimated at 6.30 calories per minute.
You would burn around 220 calories at medium intensity and 264 calories at high intensity.
As you can see, the number of calories you can burn on the elliptical or any other activity depends on a few different factors.
There were some too Studies in which the calorie counter was used on many cardio machines significantly overestimated the calorie consumption.
When comparing the discrepancies between different cardio machines (treadmill, ergometer, stair climber), the elliptical trainer was by far the most disappointing. The numbers on the monitor were overestimated by 42 percent.
This is the result of a study carried out by researchers at the Human Performance Center at UC San Francisco.
Then there was a 2018 study that found that the elliptical machine overestimated around 100 calories for 30 minutes of moderate exercise. (1)
Things like machine settings, height or inclination, resistance level, shape, machine design, quality and machine age / wear and tear can influence the measurement accuracy.
Our calculator is designed to provide a reasonable estimate of the amount of energy used during an elliptical activity.
Can the elliptical trainer help me lose a lot of weight?
The elliptical is a great, gentle cardio activity that can certainly help you lose weight.
But how much weight you really and really lose depends on your general habits and how you approach your goals.
As long as she create a calorie deficit, and if you do it the healthy and correct way, you can lose weight. But many choose the wrong path. You will eat almost nothing and exercise for hours to lose fat pounds.

How many calories does the elliptical burn compared to other forms of cardio?
As mentioned earlier, there are many different variables that determine the number of calories burned between different types of cardio activity. Weight, intensity / pace and duration are the biggest factors.
As an example, however, there is a study from 2010 that compared the calorie consumption between the elliptical machine and the treadmill, another very popular cardio machine. The researchers found similar calorie expenditure when volunteers performed both sports with the same perceived level of exertion (2).
However, the heart rate was higher during elliptical training.
But it’s important to note that this is just a study and again variables determine calorie consumption.
