Episode # 16 in the Motivation Assist Podcast series is on How to deal with alcohol this Christmas
This podcast has 5 reasons to drink less this Christmas and offers some guidance on how to do it.
The party season is really over and it means a lot of eating, partying and drinking.
The important thing is that you take a moment to think about the role alcohol should play at Christmas (and New Years), and most importantly, how you handle alcohol at Christmas.
Here are 5 reasons to drink less this Christmas:
1. Maintenance and weight control becomes much easier.
Please pay attention to the daily drinking as this will increase your appetite. The problem with alcohol is that it interferes with the way the body burns fat. When you drink something, the body stops using fat for energy and instead uses alcohol
2. Better health and better skin.
Alcohol is a diuretic that causes water loss and dehydration. Alcohol also robs your skin of important B vitamins, folic acid, and zinc.
3. Better connections with those around you.
It is wrong to say that conversations make more sense when you are consuming alcohol. The ability to remember “meaningful” conversations is severely impaired when consuming alcohol.
4. Sleep better.
If you drink alcohol, you don't go into REM or deep sleep. Not getting enough rest triggers cravings and the likelihood of eating more calories the next day.
5. Your sanity will improve.
The fact is that alcohol is a depressant and without it mental health is improved.
Many people trying to lose weight forget about one important factor: drinks contain calories. When it comes to monitoring your caloric intake, many people only think of food, but alcohol, as well as other beverages like sodas, fruit juices, etc., contain calories and a lot more than you would probably think. A glass of white wine can contain up to 100 calories, and some cocktails can be a shocking 600 calories.
