Any legume or dal or pulse is fine in moderate amounts. Nuts are very good quality fat which helps with obese inflammation. Few seeds help boost immunity and keep the lungs healthy. Omega-3-rich nuts such as walnuts, Brazil nuts and almonds help keep up with immunity. Add methi seeds, chia, and flax seeds as they help in weight loss.
Low-fat dairy products are acceptable. Never consume milk products or milk in its raw form. Always boil and cook these foods before consuming them. Yogurt is a very good option for boosting gut immunity.
White lean pieces such as chicken, fish, or turkey are acceptable. You can have protein too. Avoid red meat as it can worsen the kapha dosha. Try to keep your intake of animal protein to a minimum.
Consume high fiber whole vegetables, leafy vegetables, and all green vegetables. Try to take at least 3-4 servings a day. Whole fruits high in fiber help in cleansing Kapha Dosha. Consume apples, pears, watermelon, pomegranates, apricots, cranberries. Avoid sour fruits that make kapha worse.
Not only is honey an excellent option for reducing Kapha Dosha, but it also helps with weight loss by reducing calories from sugar. One teaspoon daily can be recommended.
Kapha dominant people feel less thirsty. It is therefore important to keep your diet hydrated. Liquids not only help clear excess kapha from the body, but they also help with weight loss. Consume warm soups, kadha, herbal and spice teas or preparations to keep the lungs safe and healthy. Drink these fluids throughout the day.
Minimize salt in your diet to avoid constipation. Contain tulsi, turmeric, pepper, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. These spices not only balance the Kapha Dosha, but also strengthen intestinal immunity. Spices boost your metabolism and help you lose weight. Ginger and pepper are also beneficial for maintaining lung health.
