This is a remarkable success story from Lucy Flanagan, a woman who, by reaching her goal weight, changed her life so much that she has never felt happier or more fulfilled.
Step back 6 years and Lucy Flanagan caught a virus that had a huge impact on her life. it damaged her heart, which meant she could no longer work or exercise.
How Lucy describes her motivated weight loss journey is, as our clinic director Aisling Connolly says in her 25 years in the weight loss industry, the best explanation of how motivation works.
Lucy was 13 1/2 stone when she started motivating in June 2018. Her mental weight was 16 stone 9 pounds and her mental weight (the habits, behaviors, and attitudes) was comparable to someone who was 16 stone 9 pounds – a weight she would eventually reach if she continued to live as she did was.
One of the biggest challenges Lucy faced was getting the reward with food, basically eating when she wasn't hungry. She is in a much happier place now – she has deprogrammed and reprogrammed her attitude towards food.
She now enjoys food and sees it very differently and is no longer dependent / dependent / rewarded.
As Lucy says, she can't exercise. She can't even go for a walk.
It is interesting that before she fell ill, Lucy was a person outdoors and enjoys doing sports. On the podcast, she notes that exercise itself didn't really affect her eating – even when she ran 5k and 10k races, she was still overweight.
For Lucy, it was the psychological part of the program that helped him finally lose weight, and more importantly, as she emphasizes keeping that weight down.
She knew she had to change the way she thought about food. She was a veteran of many previous diet programs, but put on weight in every single case.
For the past six years, Lucy had felt like she was in limbo, but motivation not only changed her weight and appearance, but also the whole mental outlook on life.
Lucy feels that she got her life back.
As Lucy says, it's a different life than what she had, that's fine, but it's a full and happy life.
Today Lucy weighs 10st 8lbs and her mental weight is still 11 stone 1lb.
From previous experiences, Lucy says that losing weight is the easy half of the battle. Maintaining weight loss is the other half.
Lucy reached her target weight in November and has not had any problems since. She had a great Christmas, was on vacation in January and kept her weight down.
For Lucy, the continuous support is important and extremely useful.
