Everyone has a great desire to lose weight and be fit. For some, losing weight is an easy task, for others a Herculean task. However, in addition to shedding the excess pounds, it is important to make sure that you are healthy and that your body remains energetic. It is of the utmost importance to lose weight in a healthy way while making sure that your body is getting the necessary and vital nutrition it needs to stay strong. The most common mistake people trying to lose weight make is starting to eat very little. Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar debunks several food-related weight loss myths in a video she recently shared on Instagram.
Weight Loss: How To Deal With Hunger And Satisfaction Signals
Rujuta explains how important it is to eat a balanced diet without reducing the proportion of meals. “We are often told that eating less is the shortest route to health, wellbeing and a good life. But that is not true. In fact, there is a high likelihood that your chocolate, biscuit, and chips cravings will multiply, especially late at night, as you eat less. Eating less will only further remove you from your weight loss goals and reduce your strength.
Rujuta explains the basic science of weight loss, adding, “Metabolism is anabolism plus catabolism. If you try to drastically reduce your dietary proportions, your anabolism will decrease and your catabolism will increase. As a result, instead of becoming fitter, healthier and younger, your body becomes weaker and less healthy and you age faster. “
An important indicator of health and fitness is the feeling of hunger. Rujuta explains the difference between hunger and cravings: “Feeling hungry and having an appetite is a sign of good health, which means that your body is performing its natural functions. Feeling hungry is important, but even more important is knowing when to stop eating, and that is called satiety. “
