Assisted conception treatments, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), are a boon for couples struggling to conceive. IVF treatment is a medically sound, scientifically and technically advanced intervention that includes plans before and during the treatment process. Based on research, both mother and father will benefit from following some health improvement guidelines that will improve the chances of successful IVF treatment. A mother’s body needs to be healthy and safe for the embryo to grow. Reliable health improvement guidelines that speed the path to premature delivery can benefit the couple’s physical and mental health.

Positive thinking

A positive attitude at the start of treatment is highly recommended, and the use of calming techniques such as meditation, pregnancy-appropriate yoga, exercise, and music have been shown to be beneficial. Visualizing success and slowly but surely getting used to replacing negative thoughts with positive ones will make the IVF journey less stressful. The couple’s emotional support also plays a crucial role.

Foods To Eat And Avoid During IVF Treatment

When you are undergoing IVF treatment, your diet is important and careful attention must be paid to IVF success.

Follow the healthy plate method, which means that 25% of your plate should be lean protein, 25% unprocessed grains, and around 50% fruits and vegetables as they are high in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Controlled consumption of fruit is recommended for women with a BMI over 30 or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) who may be at an increased risk of high blood sugar during treatment and pregnancy.

Limited intake of junk and processed or canned foods with sugar, especially carbonated beverages that are high in sugar. Excessive coffee consumption can also be harmful.

Alcohol use and smoking should be avoided by both partners while IVF is being considered, as it could affect sperm counts and is also known to affect maternal health, particularly the growth of the baby in the womb. The negative effects are seen even with secondhand smoke, that is, when someone else smokes in the same house.

Men should avoid prolonged exposure to high temperature environments such as saunas, hot water baths, including occupational exposure. This has been shown to be detrimental to sperm quality.

Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDC)

These are chemicals that can affect the way your body’s hormones work. They can therefore affect fertility in men and women, as well as the development of the baby’s organs in the womb. EDCs are found in everyday items like plastic containers, cosmetics, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and automobile exhaust fumes, and therefore expose us to harmful effects on reproductive health. Look for BPA-free plastic containers that are safer.

After the embryo transfer

After the embryo has been transferred to the uterus, it is advisable that the mother remain calm and relaxed, but not inactive. A woman should avoid vigorous exercise and extreme temperatures, as it can affect early pregnancy. Also, immersion in water for the first two weeks after egg retrieval should be avoided because of the risk of infection.
