Risks of Intermittent Fasting and The Excessive Fats Keto Eating regimen

Dangers of Intermittent Fasting and The High Fat Keto Diet_new_1

In this podcast, Aisling and Maebh talk about the "Dangers of Intermittent Fasting and the High-Fat Keto Diet", about intermittent fasting and the high-fat keto diet, and specifically why they are not recommended for people looking to lose weight. The results are only short term and the overall effects are negative.

Maebh first points out that the attraction of these extreme diets is that they address the quick desire that exists in most people: I want to lose weight and I want to lose it now.

Maebh adds that here at Motivation we don't prescribe or follow quick fixes because they don't work. Not only is this a motivational point of view, our point of view on the lack of quick fixes / extreme diets is proven by research from around the world. Research clearly showing the ineffectiveness of these diets in maintaining weight loss over the long term.

Intermittent fasting

When it comes to intermittent fasting, our bodies are not designed for fasting. We are not designed to go long stretches of the day without food or sustenance.

A great way to visualize this is to think of our metabolism as a fire that must never go out. Here at Motivation we believe in continuously stoking this fire so that it burns.

Add to this the hunger that you have to endure. This is not intuitive for how our body works. We need energy to function, to fulfill our obligations at work, at home or wherever. How can you be expected to function properly when you deny your body the fuel it needs to run its core functions?

There are any number of different intermittent fasting regimes. Some skip breakfast, some skip lunch, some skip dinner, some skip all meals for a day or two. The Snickers ad hits the nail on the head, but for the wrong reasons. If you don't feed the body, you suffer from hypoglycemia and crave sugary foods as surely as night follows day – cue Joan Colins.

Protein is like gasoline or the fuel in a fire. Deny your body the core and primary fuel and the fire will fade and lack the warmth to keep you going.

Food is energy.

Food is fuel.

This is an indisputable fact, and yet there are advocates of intermittent fasting who encourage and advocate these extreme, rapid, and ultimately ineffective regimes.

High fat keto diet

If you are motivated, we recommend a ketogenic diet, but it must be emphasized that our ketogenic diet should not be confused with the high-fat keto diet, a diet that we do not endorse. The high-fat keto diet relies on foods that are really high in fat.

What is alarming is that so many people will stick to this extreme diet without first consulting a doctor.

The high-fat keto diet was popularized by professional cyclists who followed this regime not to lose weight, but to maintain their body weight and build energy reserves that they could fall back on to cope with the excruciating pain and physical demands of races like the Tour de to become France or the Giro d & # 39; Italia or one of the one-day races with strenuous criteria during their racing year.

The high-fat keto diet is another extreme and very restrictive diet that we don't recommend.

Maebh gets right to the point when she says, "The high-fat keto diet is a disordered way of eating."

With almost 25 years of business activity, the ketogenic motivation plan has been scientifically proven to be healthy, sustainable and highly effective for weight loss in the long term.
