The role of gratitude in life and especially on the weight loss journey is worth considering.
Gratitude is much more than being courteous, saying thank you, or helping a friend; it is a deeper psychological state of real gratitude. It's not always true, but notice the people in life who are the happiest of all. Essentially, they're not the ones with the best jobs or the most money in the bank. They are the people who are content with their lot, appreciate the little things, and feel really happy regardless of their circumstances. They are the people who show joy and an amazing sense of peace while enjoying life on all levels. They understand and appreciate the role of gratitude.
It makes sense, but that doesn't make it easy. Everyone has something to do and no life is perfect. But if we really think about it, each of us could spend a day identifying all of the things in our lives that deserve gratitude. It is a good idea to keep a journal or to record the role of gratitude in your life. When motivated, we are strongly committed to keeping a written food diary. It's a simple addition to keeping a gratitude diary as well.
This is a great way to keep yourself in a grateful positive state of mind.
In the morning:
- Each day, write down 3 things that you are grateful for. (Avoid repeating the same things).
Start with yourself, your skills, then other people, situations and experiences.
- List 3 commitments that make you more positive.
At night:
- What did I give today? Eg time to have a listening ear.
- What did i learn today
- How can I use today as an investment in my future?
It is so easy to fall into the trap of dissatisfaction and subconsciously allow this constant flow of negative thoughts to cause feelings of sadness, guilt, resentment, and anger.
